Deep Wind Offshore Wins Bid for 1GW Offshore Wind Site in Baltic Sea

June 21, 2024 –Deep Wind Offshore has emerged as the winner of a 1GW size site in the Baltic Sea, off the coast of Estonia. This milestone comes as the Baltic countries aim to collectively achieve 20GW of offshore wind production capacity by 2030.


The offshore wind site, named Saare 2.1, is located outside Saaremaa Island, Estonia, and spans an area of 164 km2. The site’s water depth ranges from 29 to 66 meters, making it an ideal location for efficient energy production.

Estonia is taking concrete steps towards achieving its climate objectives, and Deep Wind Offshore is proud to be a part of this journey. According to CEO Knut Vassbotn, the company is excited to contribute to Estonia’s climate goals, ensure energy security, build value chains, and create new job opportunities.
