The race to bigger wind turbines is not over yet. Lets see who will introduce first 20 MW Wind Turbine.

Mingyang Smart Energy has proudly unveiled its latest innovation, the MySE 16-260, which has claimed the title of the largest wind turbine currently in operation worldwide. This mega offshore facility boasts an impressive output of 16 megawatts (MW) and is situated in the Mingyang Qingzhou offshore wind farm.

Typhoon Resistant Wind Turbine

Despite facing a violent typhoon with winds racing at 136.8 km/h, the wind turbine remained intact, showcasing its durability and ability to withstand extreme weather conditions. This is crucial, considering that many of China’s coastal areas are prone to potential typhoons.

Mingyang’s Chief Technology Officer, Qiying Zhang, confirmed that the MySE 16-260 is designed to withstand such high wind speeds, ensuring its reliability and safety during adverse situations.

Electricity for 80,000 households

The MySE 16-260’s impressive features include a massive rotor diameter of 260 meters and a wind-exposed area of 53,902 square meters. It can produce a substantial amount of clean energy, generating 67 million kWh of electricity annually, which is enough to power around 80,000 households.

This reduces CO2 emissions by 56,000 tons
