Iles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm Achieves Key Milestone with Offshore Substation Installation

The offshore substation for the Iles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm has been successfully installed. Designed and manufactured by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, a local supplier, the substation weighs approximately 2,500 tons and measures 39 meters in length, 25.5 meters in width, and 18 meters in height.

The installation of the offshore substation on the jacket foundation was completed yesterday, with both works carried out by DEME Group, a supplier for the project. This milestone marks a significant step forward for the wind farm project, which is expected to provide electricity to nearly 800,000 people annually, equivalent to the population of Vendée.

The Iles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm is one of ENGIE’s most significant offshore wind projects, with 61 monopiles being installed for the project, which began at the end of May. The wind farm is scheduled to be operational in 2025, contributing to France’s energy transition and offshore wind energy industry development
