Envision Energy Partners with Harmony Energy for UK Battery Storage Systems

Envision Energy has announced a strategic partnership with Harmony Energy Income Trust to supply battery energy storage systems (BESS) for Harmony Energy’s power plants in Wormald Green and Hawthorn Pit in the UK. This collaboration marks a significant step in expanding energy storage capabilities in the region.

Harmony Energy Income Trust, listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2021, is a leading utility-scale battery energy storage owner and operator in the UK. The company currently operates 109MW/218MWh of battery energy storage systems and has an additional 286.4MW/572.8MWh under construction. The BESS for the Wormald Green and Hawthorn Pit projects will begin manufacturing in the second quarter of 2023, with the completed projects expected to connect to the grid in the first quarter of 2024.

Envision Energy is renowned for its full-stack technical capabilities in battery technologies and energy storage systems. The company’s intelligent liquid-cooled energy storage system will provide energy time-shifting, capacity services, and frequency regulation services to the local power grid. The Wormald Green project will have a storage capacity of 33MW/66MWh, and the Hawthorn Pit project will have a capacity of 49.9MW/99.8MWh.

The BESS will incorporate AESC’s energy storage cells, known for their superior energy density, cycle life, and safety. AESC is a leading battery technology provider with 13 manufacturing sites across Japan, the U.S., the UK, France, Spain, and China.

Since its launch in 2021, Envision Energy’s intelligent liquid-cooled energy storage system has seen significant success, with over 150 installations worldwide and an order backlog exceeding 15GWh. The company’s commitment to research and development in key technologies, such as battery management systems (BMS), power conversion systems (PCS), energy management systems (EMS), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), continues to drive innovation in smart energy storage solutions.
