Uniper and WAP Energia Partner to Develop Onshore Wind Portfolio in Poland

Uniper has entered into a development partnership with WAP Energia to develop an onshore wind portfolio in Poland. The partnership covers six early-stage onshore wind projects with a total capacity of up to 600 MW. This collaboration supports Uniper’s goal of achieving 10 GW of developed projects ready for construction by 2030.

Poland is experiencing a significant increase in renewable energy generation, making it a key market for Uniper’s renewable energy development. Uniper’s CEO, Jörg Lennertz, stated that the company is expanding its pipeline in wind and photovoltaic in the Polish market to GW scale, through co-development partnerships and in-house origination and greenfield development capacities.

Uniper’s Renewables strategy focuses on driving the energy industry’s transformation across key European markets. The company plans to invest approximately €8 billion in its green transformation between 2023 and 2030. By 2030, Uniper aims to use 80% of its installed power plant capacity for CO2-free electricity production.

This partnership marks a significant step towards achieving Uniper’s ambitious renewable energy goals and contributing to a sustainable energy future in Poland.
